Brief History:


The Arawak Indians were the original inhabitants of Barbados. These people were driven out from their own land after they attacked the Carib Indians from Venezuela. Then it happened that when the Europeans sailed on this province the Carib themselves left the place. There was an explorer named as Pedro he found Barbados when he was on the route to Brazil in the year 1536. He named the island as Los Barbados because he saw fig trees, which had hanging mid-air roots which looked like a beard. It was then Captain John Powell who came to Barbados and declared that the island belong to England in the year 1625. Later John Powell’s brother came to Barbados with 80 settlers and 10 slaves to occupy the place. More settlers followed them and by the end of 1628 the population went up to 2000. Barbados is now said to be a very peaceful place with no much noise.

Normally Barbados escapes the hurricane as it rises from the African coast and heads to the Caribbean northern part which is 100 miles away from Barbados.
