Brief History:


It is the British overseas territory. It has 60 different islands which has their own special uniqueness and diverse character. The BVI (British Virgin Island) was first occupied by the Arawak and later by the Carib Indians. The Virgin Island was developed by the Dutch in 1648 and then the English took the possession of it by 1672. From 1872 to 1960 the island was a part of the British colony of Leeward Islands; they were approved independence in the year 1967. The people are more from US Virgin Island as the economy is largely and closely tied to it. The legal currency they use is the US dollar. The Island is interdependent on some of the US Virgin Islands, the main islands are the Virgin Gorda, Anegada, Tortola and Jost Van Dyke.


Places to Visit in BVI:


There are lots of places to see on this Island. On the main road of Tortola there are many places to see and admire. Tortola is known to be the commercial center and famous tourist place. The population covers the place around 80 percent, and it remains the busiest Island. The first place apart from its side scenery is the Botanic garden of Junior O’neal. It is a beautiful place which is situated at the middle of the city. You can see the lovely tropical plants all around, with admirable lily pond and a cactus grove. It seems a small and exotic rainforest making the garden feel like safe and quite place. Then you must not at all miss to see the St. George Anglican church, in which liberation declaration of the British slaves to their freedom is kept intact and for public to view it’s a copy of the 1834. In Tortola the Sage Mountain National Park can be explored as it is very excellent in itself. Here you can find the 1780 feet high Sage Mountains; it is the highest peak in Virgin Islands. It is said that the park on an average does not even receive 100 inches of rainfall throughout the year. Virgin Gorda is the second largest of the Islands of the British Virgin Island with breathtaking landscapes all around.  Here you can find lot of attractive beaches, confined bays and Virgin Gorda Peak, which will change your mind to cancel all other activities and climb the mountain. In the southern coast of this Island you will find the baths, baths is a group of large granite rock which actually forms some grottos to watch. The surprising thing is that granite is a rare thing seen in this part of the world. It is a good place to spend few hours of your visit. Other most interesting part to visit is the little Anegada which is situated just 19 kilometers from the Virgin Gorda. The tiny Island is 27 feet above sea level which is known as coral reef. The beaches as usual are stunning and it’s the all over beach that gives the faultless view, it is only 250 people living in this Island so it will give you all the solitude and isolation in the world.


Activities to do on British Virgin Islands:


There are too many things to be done at British Virgin Islands as it is small place and has a total land area of 153 sq km. If at all one decide of visiting this Island then one may leave all the splendor and demonstrations and be with natural existence. Beaches are plenty are every one t enjoy and these 14 lovely beaches are quite a lonely place where you wont find anyone to disturb you. Tortola is full of activities, these people to here leave to eat and will find all different restaurants with a delicious seafood.  Scuba Diving and snorkeling are very famous on this Island and it can be done on the protected bays and inlet. The water here is crystal clear with no impurities and can see clear view of underwater activity which is covered with the coral reefs and an extensive range of aquatic life. You will see all classic diving and snorkeling sites which is a class apart. If any visitor is interested in wreck diving then you can number of shipwrecks in a near place of Anegada. If you are a beginner or an expert surfer then British Virgin Islands has an ideal condition to windsurfing and surfing both. The winds are very enchanting, you will find a puff of fresh and gentle breeze driving through the day normally if you visit the Island in the month of November and March. The famous bays for surfing are the Josiah’s bay, cane garden bay and apple bay are good for surfing. The nanny Cay Island is the biggest of them all for windsurfing as it holds the biggest surfing operations to surf. Not to leave it apart, if one is interested in sailing then you even a choice to join a sailing school. You can get a bareboat charter with captain or without and have your sailing at your own luxuries, if you want to sail in a luxurious way like spending a little money then hire your skipper, with a crew and staff on the boat for sail. Climate of British Virgin Islands:


The climate is raged by the trade winds and the subtropical climate. One can fins a little change in summer and winter. The rainfall is slightly low and it varies from island to island. The temperature at night falls down and gives a soothing effect. Visitors should first take the entire scheduled climate list as hurricanes and earthquakes are susceptible at times bit the frequency of occurrence is very low. June and November is said to be the primary season for hurricane.


Carnivals of British Virgin Island:
